The Convention on the Rights of Disabled Persons – Convention, adopted by the UN General Assembly on 13 December 2006 and entered into force on 3 May 2008 (on the thirtieth day after the accession or ratification by twenty States). Simultaneously with the Convention adopted and entered into force of the Optional Protocol. As of October 2015, 160 States and the European Union take part in the Convention, 88 States – the Optional Protocol. [1]
With the entry into force of the Convention was established by the Disability Rights Committee (initially – composed of 12 experts, in connection with the achievement of a number of member countries mark 80 is extended up to 18 people) – a body of supervision over the implementation of the Convention, authorized to consider reports of States parties to the Convention, to make them suggestions and general recommendations, and consider the reports of violations by States parties to the Protocol to the Convention.
